Hello! Plus Chinese Spaghetti

Hello friends!

I'm going to Italy in a few weeks; I'm studying the history of Tuscan food (very exciting).

This is where I will be posting pictures, stories, and recipes from my adventures.

Since I'm in the states for the next two weeks, it is unlikely that there will be very many immediate adventures, but to start off, and in keeping with the title, here is a recipe:

Tsa-Jiang Mien (Chinese Spaghetti)

Familial legend has it that this is the recipe Marco Polo brought back to the Italians, inspiring the genesis of Italian spaghetti. This is my contribution to the history of the esteemed dish:

Ingredients:
2 lbs ground pork
3T red miso (to be found in Asian or health food stores)
6 cloves garlic (sliced)
3-4T sugar
1/3-1/2 jar of Hoisin Sauce (start with less)

Sauté the pork, then add Miso, Garlic, and sugar. Stir well.
Add Hoisin sauce and simmer for 30-60 minutes. Add water to thin or for a lighter flavor.
Serve over spaghetti or linguine noodles.
Add cooked peas, carrot and cucumber sticks to taste.
